Gillian Anderson Shakes And Stirs James Bond Betting
Tom Hiddleston Remains Firm favourite at 4/9
It gets curiouser and curiouser. The next James Bond market is really heating up.
Hot on the heals of Tom Hiddleston being an absolute guarantee to be the new Bond. So much so, that many bookies suspended betting on the odds-on Night Manager favourite, all bets are back on.
Gillian Anderson has recently become an unlikely new fan favourite to replace Daniel Craig as 007. A tweet by Anderson, featuring herself in the 2017 movie poster for the film sent the rumour mill into overdrive and resulted in punters crying out for her to be entered into the betting.
BoyleSports gave punters what they wanted on Monday morning by installing her as a 33/1 shot, but they were quick to get behind the X-Files actress and following a string of large bets she has been cut into 16/1 for the iconic role.
Five actors stand in Anderson’s way of becoming the first ever female Bond, with Tom Hiddleston the one to beat at 4/9. Irish actor Aidan Turner is another strong contender for the role at 8/5 with Tom Hardy and Idris Elba both 10/1 shots and Damien Lewis just ahead of Anderson at 12/1.
Aoife Heffron, PR Executive for BoyleSports commented
A female Bond would certainty shake and stir things up with 007 fans, but the consensus online seems to be positive for Gillian Anderson to replace Daniel Craig as the iconic British spy.”
She added “Our customers definitely seem to agree as they quickly backed her in from 33/1 to 16/1, putting her amongst the key contenders for the role. One punter has so much faith in Anderson becoming the new 007 that they placed a €50 bet on her at 33/1.”
