US Presidential Election Betting Update – Trump Odds Shorten

Donald Trump has officially secured the Republican nomination, removing any hopes of delegates voting for another candidate instead of supporting the winner of their primary as they are legally required to do. As a result bookmakers have shortened the odds on his becoming the next US President to the shortest they have ever been. The best odds available on him are now just 7/4 via BoyleSports and Betfair In the meantime, Hillary Clinton’s odds remain strong only slightly lengthening to best odds of 8/15 via Betfred.

While Hillary is still the strong favourite, the momentum seems to still be in Trump’s favour, and momentum has been Trump’s friend from a year ago when he was 100/1 to win the Republican nomination.

US President Opinion Polls

Neverthless the latest opinion polls seem to show the race as neck and neck with some even showing  Trump ahead of  Clinton. This is without spending the mega bucks that Clinton has so far. Assuming that Trump does start spending big, that could help give him further momentum towards perhaps even a consistent lead in the polls.

US President Betting Tips / Predictions

Does this mean that Trump is set to be become President and punters should jump onto him at 7/4? No and Yes. We believe there is still room for further movement in Trump’s favour, however in the end Clinton will prevail due to Trump not having any hope of attracting key voting groups such as women or Latin Americans, in the numbers he needs. Clinton’s own unpopularity is one of Trump’s biggest assets but not enough to mean that he will ultimately win the election.
