According to BoyleSports, there has been a major market move with magician Richard Jones becoming BGT joint betting favourite, overtaking Another Kind of Blue. This is following the bookmakers having received a flurry of bets on the magician on Thursday afternoon and into Friday.
Richard, was initially priced by BoyleSports as a 9/1 shot to win and saw some slight interest that resulted in him shortening into 6/1. However the major move came on Thursday when bets started to pour in. Traders at BoyleSports quickly cut Richard into 5/1, but the bets continued to roll in and saw him eventually made the joint 3/1 favourite.
The best odds you can now get (and see Odds Comparison Table for full details) are 9/2 with Betfair. That is actually a full point better than the next bets odds. I fancy they will full in line soon, so if you fancy Richard Jones to win this year’s BGT, you might want to put your money on him now through Betfair.
The major move on Richard Jones, who will find out on Saturday if he has secured a spot in the live semi-finals, has seen the rest of the hopefuls suffer.
Jasmine Elcock’s odds of winning have suffered a drift, lengthening from 4/1 to 6/1. Early favourite Beau Dermott who has been priced as low as 5/2 can now be got at best odds of 13/2 via Paddy Power.
Aoife Heffron, PR Executive for BoyleSports commented
“With two days to go until the semi-finalists are chosen it seems punters are taking no chances in missing value and have gone all in on magician Richard Jones to win. After a hefty day at the office our traders have now made Richard the joint 7/2 favourite with Another Kind of Blue as he now poses the biggest threat in the liability stakes.”
Odds lengthen dramatically for singers Kathleen Jenkins and Rachel Wooding
Another major move is Kathleen Jenkins (AKA ‘The next Susan Boyle) who has moved out to 25/1 with Betfred, who earlier in the day had Kathleen at 12/1. Her previous best odds in the betting market were 16/1. Similarly Rachel Wooding has moved out to 25/1 with Betfred. They had her at 7/1 earlier in the day. Her previous best odds in the market were 16/1.
What we think has happened with Kathleen and Rachel. is there has been a consolidation of the singing acts. There were too many in the top 10 of the betting market, and BGT is a variety competition after all. We are now seeing the favourite singers (ie Jasmine Elcock and Beau Dermott) consolidate their positions, with their odds only lengthening slightly, while the others are seeing their odds collapsing.
Betfred lengthening odds for outsiders
Another act that has its odds lengthened by BetFred from 12/1 to 25/1 are Simon’s Golden Buzzer act Boogie Storm. Their previous best odds in the betting market were also 16/1, which seems a common theme.
In fact it seems like Betfred have performed a major upheaval of their books, also lengthening their odds on Ana and Fia Almanda from 8/1 to a massive best in market 33/1. So if you fancy good odds on some of the outsiders in the BGT market, Betfred seems the place to look right now.
